I bought my 1912 house over 30 years ago. I have lived with the same ugly, but functional upstairs bathroom the entire time. The time came for a change, and in a house like mine, it is never without surprises, aggravations, additional costs, and added time….
The big surprise was the wallpaper behind the fixtures. This room had once been a nursery! Of course, there would not have been a 2nd bathroom at that time. The floors and walls required leveling, there was a 3.5-inch difference from one side of the room to the other! The bathroom is now fully gutted, gone is the lathe & plaster, new wiring and new plumbing are going in.
