Seattle Residents– did you know that there is free
extra yard waste pickup in November? Extra yard waste fees are not charged in November, when customers are asked to keep fall leaves out of drains to reduce the risk of flooding. Households can put out up to 10 bags of extra yard waste per collection day for free from November 1 to 30.
Fall Home Maintenance Reminders:
Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors (is it time for new ones?)
Have furnace and heat pumps serviced & replace air filters. When was the last time you had your duct work cleaned? Is it time? Make sure air vents are unobstructed
Clean bathroom fans/filters
Clean gutters and downspouts & make sure water is diverted away from your foundation
Check crawlspace for leaks and pests
Disconnect garden hoses. If you do not have frost-proof faucets, install protective foam covers or turn off the shut-off valves
Stock up on items for winter, such as snow shovel, firewood, and sidewalk salt/sand
Grass roots are growingdeeper to prepare for winter. Now is the
ideal time to re-seed and fertilize your lawn
Treat roof for moss growth (never pressure wash it!)
