The Holiday season is upon us….
For some this is exciting, for others, it is a time of sadness and even worry. There are so many external pressures to make this time of year about consumption. There are other ways to enjoy the season and decrease your
stress load. I only buy gifts for the children in my life. I bake cookies and make hot fudge sauce to share with friends and family, this all brings me joy. I read this on Becoming Minimalist and really resonated with me, I hope it will withyou:
“Before you go and buy a bunch of stuff for family and friends this holiday season, ask them what they really need. Maybe they need help with a utility bill, car payment, or the rent. Maybe they need a kid-free night and could use a free babysitter. Maybe they could use a home-cooked meal. Maybe they need someone to listen to them over a cup of tea. Maybe they don’t know what to ask for or are too embarrassed to ask. Maybe you could be the one to give them exactly what they need this season rather then some “stuff” they’ll never use.”
If you are shopping, consider this:
“The work of local artists and makers is not stuck on a dock or in a shipping container. This is the perfect opportunity to shop local. Help local artists live their dream.”
