My latest undertaking at my house is the biggest to date-the kitchen! So far, I have lived without hot water for 1 week and no utility sink for 2 weeks (that meant dishwashing in the bathtub). Thank goodness for my electric kettle! The hardest part of all my major remodels so far is dealing with the dust and debris. Kristen’s 1st lesson: when possible, do your major remodel at the same time and move out! I thought that I would have a little kitchenette in the basement and basically continue with meal prep as usual. Not possible! My basement is a mess and a work zone with sawdust and other debris falling every time I clean it up. Kristen’s 2nd lesson: if you remain in your house, plan on not cooking. I am fortunate to be able to get healthy meals delivered from NW Fit Meals, they are more economical and healthier than restaurant food. My 3rd lesson for this edition is to remain
calm, and remind myself that this is “self-inflicted”, and I am lucky to have a
home that I can remodel, that bombs are not falling on it, and soon I will have a beautiful new kitchen.
